The NFL pre-season is just a month away, and this of course is starting to turn everyone’s heads to fantasy football. For fantasy players, this is a great time of year as baseball is in full swing and the fantasy football buzz is starting to come to life. There are so many burning questions about fantasy before the year starts. Topics like busts, sleepers, dark-horse players, top players at each position, players that will outperform, or underperform their ADP, but the number one question that needs to be answered before your draft takes place is: who is the No. 1 overall pick for the 2017 fantasy football season?
Sure, this question only applies to one person in your league, but the picks that come after No. 1 are the picks that really shape your draft and season, so being aware of who may go first in your league is important for every team, not just the team that is picking at the top. The players in the conversation for the No. 1 pick are virtually all equal, the slimmest of variations have to be taken into consideration in order to differentiate between the candidates.
Just one year removed from seeing Antonio Brown going first in nearly every fantasy draft, this was followed by a mix of OBJ, Julio Jones, AJ Green, DeAndre Hopkins, and Rob Gronkowski in the top 10. NFL running backs have also made a huge resurgence in the fantasy landscape.
So with all of that said, let’s take a look at the top nominees for the coveted first overall pick as well as the reasons why.
