The Las Vegas Golden Kings completed a very important task in becoming an NHL roster last Wednesday, June 22, when they selected their 30 players from the 2017 Expansion Draft, as well as their unheard of 12 draft picks at this year’s entry-level draft.
*The other 30 NHL teams were able protect only a certain number of players which meant that there were numerous players with talent on the board for the Golden Knights to pick.
Here is the 30 players that the Golden Knights took in order.

On paper, Las Vegas offers a roster riddled with quality role players, but one that lacks a stand-alone star. With that in mind, it’s tough to project Las Vegas to make any type of run for the playoffs in the next several years. Also, here is how Las Vegas might line up its depth chart next year.
Right Wing: James Neal, Chris Thorburn, Brendan Leipsic and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare
Center: Jonathan Marchessault, Erik Hula, Oscar Lindberg and William Karlsson
Left Wing: David Perron, Tomas Nosek, Teemu Pulkkinen and William Carrier
Goalies: Marc-Andre Fleury and Calvin Pickard
Other Defensive Pairings: Jason Garrison, Marc Methot, Griffin Reinhart, Luca Sbisa, Clayton Stoner and Deryk Engelland
As I stated above, Las Vegas enters their first season in the NHL as a below average team that in retrospect left high-end talent on the expansion board. Las Vegas decided to lean with youth instead of experience which is a risky move considering hockey analysts don’t believe the team will stay in Vegas for more than a dozen years.
Regardless, here is a final look into the Golden Knights’ prospects chart, and who are the top players in Las Vegas’ system. All of these are picks from their recent draft.
